Peter Knibb plating dishes for a private dinner

FAQs

Questions, answered

  • Do you cook in holiday cottages?

Yes — a large part of what I do is cooking for guests staying in holiday cottages, barn conversions, Airbnbs and country houses across the Cotswolds. The evening happens where you're already staying.

  • What kitchen facilities do you need?

A domestic oven and hob, a sink and a little worktop space is usually plenty. Tell me about the kitchen when you enquire — including anything unusual — and I'll plan a menu that works in it.

  • Do you bring plates, cutlery or serving equipment?

I bring all my own cooking equipment. For plates, cutlery and glassware I normally use what's in the property, which is fine in almost every holiday home. If that isn't suitable, let me know and we'll sort out hire.

  • Do you serve the food?

Yes. Each course is plated and served to the table at your pace, as you would expect in a restaurant.

  • Do you clear down afterwards?

Always. The kitchen is left as I found it, so there's no washing up waiting for you at the end of the evening.

  • Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies and other requirements are all easily accommodated — just tell me when you enquire so the menu is built around them from the start.

  • How far do you travel?

Based in Oxfordshire, I cover the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. If you're further afield, do still ask.

  • What is the minimum number of guests?

Private dining starts from £80 per person with a minimum of 8 guests.

  • How far in advance should we book?

The earlier the better, especially for weekends and holiday periods, but do ask about shorter notice — dates do sometimes come free.
